Chagga Village

Where Kilimanjaro culture comes alive

Nestled on the lush slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, just 5 km from Moshi, Chagga Village is a tour and safari company and cultural heritage centre dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and traditions of the Kilimanjaro people. Overlooking a wooded ravine and the Mrusunga River — fed by Kilimanjaro's melting ice — and surrounded by banana groves and coffee farms, it offers a true escape into nature. Guests can unwind at our Chagga-themed café and bar, stay in our rustic cabins, and explore the region through guided safaris, mountain trekking, cultural experiences, and village tours. Come slow down, reconnect with the land, and discover the living heritage of the Kilimanjaro people.

TREKKING AND SAFARI

Kilimanjaro Trekking
and Safari

Africa's rooftop and its wild heart — both within reach. Whether you're setting out to summit Kilimanjaro, tracking wildlife on safari, or craving both in one unforgettable journey, we tailor every itinerary around you. Our pride is to offer you the best safari and mountain trekking experiences shaped with a personal touch from start to finish. And for those who want more than a mountain or a game drive, we'll weave in an authentic cultural experience before or after your climb or safari — because the real story of this landscape lives in its people as much as its peaks.

CABINS

Msonge Cabins

Nestled among coffee and banana farms, our msonge (thatched, round cabins) are designed to immerse you fully in the natural beauty and gentle rhythms of rural life of Kilimanjaro. Wake to birdsong. Step onto your private balcony, overlooking a wooded ravine and the Mrusunga River — fed by Kilimanjaro's melting ice — where you're welcome to swim at any point during your stay. Feel the unhurried pace of a community that has always known how to live well, rooted deeply in this remarkable landscape. Each cabin also offers expansive views of Moshi town and the distant mountains beyond.

CHAGGA THEMED CAFÉ & BAR

Café & Bar

Relax in our cosy café and bar, surrounded by banana groves and the sound of the river below. Enjoy fresh, locally inspired meals, handcrafted drinks, and warm Chagga hospitality — perfect for solo travelers, families, and groups.

CHAGGA HUT & MUSEUM

The Chagga Heritage Experience

Step inside the Msonge, a traditional Chagga hut thatched from top to bottom in layers of dried grass — naturally cool by day, warm by night. More than a structure, the Msonge offers a window into generations of Chagga life, revealing how families gathered, cooked, and built a home from the land around them.
From here, journey into our Chagga Museum, a curated collection of artefacts and historical items drawn from the heart of the local community. Each piece carries a story of tradition, identity, and the everyday rhythms of Chagga life. Through guided workshops and thoughtfully arranged exhibitions, the museum brings that heritage vividly to life, offering visitors a rich and meaningful introduction to both the history and the living culture of the Chagga people.
Together, the hut and museum form a single unfolding story — from lived tradition to preserved memory — inviting visitors to experience Chagga heritage not as a relic of the past, but as a culture that continues to breathe.

PLAYGROUND

Family Friendly Playground

Chagga Village is a place for the whole family. Our playground and outdoor play corner — stocked with toys and books — give children the freedom to explore, imagine, and play, while parents unwind and soak in the peaceful surroundings. A perfect getaway where everyone arrives as a guest and leaves feeling at home.
